At Camp Dickenson we offer a variety of program services to help you put together a great event for your group. If you need a fun activity to fill some time in your schedule or a team-building activity to focus your group, we can help! We will work with you to select activities that fit your group's needs, support your objectives, and fit into your schedule. Our trained, experienced staff will lead activities and ensure that everyone from your group has a fun, memorable, and safe experience.

Note: We also have a large games field and basketball court for self-directed activities.

​Group Initiative Games

Cost: $40.00 Per Hour

Group Initiative Games are a great tool for helping groups explore issues of teamwork, leadership, and communication. These games offer a number of fun, safe, physical problem solving activities that stimulate discussion of important group related issues. Maximum group size is 15 participants. Larger groups can be split into two or more groups.
 

​Climbing Tower and Zip-line

Cost: $75.00 Per Hour

The camp's climbing tower provides fun, safe opportunities for people of all ages and skill levels to try climbing. Children Grade 4 can climb the Climbing Gym, while Grades 6 and up can climb the Rock Wall and Zip-line. Trained Camp Dickenson staff help create a memorable experience for participants. Maximum group size is 15 participants. Larger Groups can be split into two or more groups for different sessions.

Note: No climbing equipment may be used without a qualified Camp Dickenson staff member present.
 

​Canoeing

Cost: $75.00 Per Hour

We offer opportunities for groups to canoe on the New River. We will drive you a few miles up stream and canoe down the New River back to Camp Dickenson. Longer trips with a lunch provided are possible for an addition fee. The camp provides the canoes and equipment along with certified trip leaders to ensure safety. Maximum groups size is 13 participants. Larger groups can be split into two or more groups.

Note: No Boating equipment may be used without a qualified Camp Dickenson staff member present.

​Hiking


The camp's 536 acres of mountains and valleys provide the perfect setting for hiking. The camp has a network of marked hiking trails varying in length and level of difficulty. Off-site day hiking trips to Grayson Highland State Park, The New River Trail and the Blue Ridge Parkway are all within driving distance. 
 
 

​Hay Rides

Cost: $40.00 Flat Fee

The camp can provide a fun filled hour on the Hay Wagon, pulled by our vintage John Deer tractor. We will travel around the historic fields and lower trails of Camp Dickenson. Hay Ride trailer can accommodate approximately 20 participants.

Note: The Hay Ride must be lead by a trained camp staff member.
 

Archery

Cost: $40.00 Per Hour

The camp archery range is a great place for beginners to learn the sport and refine their skills. A trained activity leaders will help your group be successful with their bows while being safe on the range.

Note: Archery done with camp equipment must be led by Camp Dickenson Staff.

​Pool

Cost: $125.00 per 4 hour session.

Camp Dickenson's pool is available to groups by reservation only. Overnight groups and day groups may only use the pool by making a reservation. Maximum capacity of the pool is 50 swimmers. For groups with more that 25 swimmers, 2 lifeguards must be present. Camp Dickenson will supply all lifeguards. Groups may not supply their own lifeguards. Please call the camp office to reserve the swimming pool.

Note: Absolutely no swimming without a Camp Dickenson Lifeguard present. ​
